I am Rahoof, a former award-winning journalist and a current doctoral candidate at The University of Texas at Austin. My research examines the relationship between media and democracy, with particular attention to journalism practice, democratic backsliding, press freedom, justice, and misinformation.

Before entering academia, I worked as a journalist and fact-checker across Asia, including in Hong Kong and India.

My research and teaching grow out of that professional experience, bringing journalism practice into conversation with questions of power, democracy, ethics, and the role of media in constructing the social world.
